Otterböte is the archaeological proof that Kökar's isolation is nothing new. The Bronze Age settlement was used seasonally by seal hunters, and finds from the site include dwelling traces, bones, pottery, and a well.
The remains are low-key, so do not expect a grand ruin. The reward is the age of the place and the way it links today's quiet island to people who came here for the same cold sea thousands of years ago.
