Plassi is old Kalajoki, close to the river rather than the beach resort. Its lanes and wooden buildings recall a town that lived from fishing, agriculture and coastal trade before Hiekkasärkät became the main name.
The district is small, but it adds useful depth to a Kalajoki visit. Look for the Fishing Museum and Havula Villa if they are open.
