Ulrika Eleonora Church

Small wooden church completed in 1700 after the earlier town church burned

Ulrika Eleonora Church is a small wooden seaside church completed in 1700, after Kristinestad's first church burned in the late 17th century. Its separate bell tower and simple timber form fit the town perfectly: modest, old and quietly handsome.

Inside, look for the votive ship, a common feature in churches along sailing coasts. The church is often closed outside summer and services, but the exterior alone is worth including on a walk through the centre.
