Stromfors Ironworks is the strongest reason to range beyond central Loviisa. The old works in Ruotsinpyhtaa grew from a 17th-century industrial site into a compact village of red-painted buildings, workshops, water, and timber.
Today the forges and workers' buildings hold small museums, craft shops and seasonal places to eat. It is a good reminder that Finland's coast was not only about ships and fortresses; inland waterpower and iron mattered too.
