Nuorgam Chapel

Nuorgam Chapel is the northernmost chapel in the European Union, a small landmark in Finland's far north beside the Teno River valley. The chapel was established in the 1880s and modernized in the 1960s and 1970s.

Services are held only a few times a year, so most visitors see it from outside. Its value is less in architectural grandeur than in its remote Arctic setting and edge-of-Europe symbolism.
