Tampere-Pirkkala International Airport is the gateway to the Tampere region and western Finland, handling budget flights from European carriers including Ryanair. The airport is compact and efficient — you clear arrivals in minutes — and sits about 15 kilometres southwest of central Tampere.
A regular bus connects the airport to Tampere city centre. Taxis are available outside arrivals. Most travellers are through and on their way within half an hour, which is rather the point of flying into Tampere-Pirkkala instead of Helsinki.
