Raahe Church

Granite Art Nouveau church anchoring the centre of Raahe

Raahe Church, formally the Church of the Holy Trinity, is the town's main landmark away from the old wooden streets. Built between 1909 and 1912 after the earlier wooden church burned, it uses local granite and the national romantic, Art Nouveau language of Finnish church architect Josef Stenback.

The 52-metre tower gives the church a presence that is hard to miss in low-rise Raahe. It is not a reason to cross Finland on its own, but it pairs well with Old Raahe and the museum if you want to understand the town's civic centre as well as its maritime past.
