Karhunkierros is Finland's classic long-distance hiking trail, running about 80 kilometres toward and through Oulanka National Park. Ruka is one of the practical bases for starting or sampling it, with shorter local routes connecting into the main path.
The trail is popular and well maintained, but it is still hilly backcountry. Carry a map, plan water, and expect huts to be busy in season.
