Konttainen is the northernmost of the main Ruka hills, close to the Karhunkierros trail. Its slopes and nearby spruce forest are popular with hikers and birdwatchers, especially around the short trail named for the red-flanked bluetail.
It is a good choice when you want a smaller outing than the full Valtavaara route.
