Ruka is Finland's second-busiest ski resort and one of its most reliable winter bases. The season can run from October into May, with downhill slopes, snow parks, ski schools, rental shops, cross-country trails, and winter events clustered around the pedestrian village.
It is a resort first, not a wild fell, but the long season and good infrastructure make it a strong northern Finland winter stop.
