Tangomarkkinat is the event that gives Seinäjoki a second identity beyond Aalto architecture. Each July, the city fills with Finnish tango: competitions, concerts, street dancing, and the crowning of tango royalty.
It is worth timing a visit for if you are curious about the more populist side of Finnish culture. The atmosphere is earnest, social, and very Finnish, even when the music looks south to Argentina.
