The Piste de Bobsleigh des Pellerins was constructed for the 1924 Winter Olympics, the world's first Winter Games. Built on the wooded slope south of the valley near the Les Pèlerins area, it was a natural-ice track of approximately 1,500 metres with a series of banked curves. After the Games it was used intermittently for a few years, then left to the forest.
The concrete skeleton of the track still stands, embedded in the trees and slowly being reclaimed by vegetation. It is not officially accessible as a tourist site, but the general area around Les Pèlerins is walkable and the ruins are visible if you know where to look. For anyone interested in the early history of winter sport, this is an evocative remnant — crumbling evidence of how hastily and impermanently the first Winter Olympics were organised.
