Munchie

Munchie is a Chamonix institution — a small, reliably busy restaurant in the centre of town that serves straightforward mountain food at fair prices. The menu changes seasonally but always features a tartiflette made with Reblochon cheese from the valley, alongside grilled meats and daily specials that use whatever was good at the market. The atmosphere is relaxed and loud, with tables packed close together.

No reservations are taken, which means queuing in high season — arrive early (before 7pm) or after 9pm to avoid the worst of it. The wine list is short but reasonably priced, and the house Savoie white is the right choice with the cheese dishes.
