Bruche Valley Voie Verte

The voie verte through the Bruche valley follows the course of an old railway line, providing a flat, well-surfaced cycling and walking path through one of the most attractive valleys in the Vosges. From Schirmeck, the path connects westward toward Raon-l'Étape and eastward toward Mutzig and eventually Strasbourg. The valley itself is quiet, lined with orchards and small villages, with the forested ridges of the Vosges rising on either side.

Cycling is the best way to explore it — the path is suitable for all fitness levels given its flatness, and the distance between villages is short enough that you can stop frequently. Bicycles can sometimes be rented in the area; the Schirmeck tourist office has current information. The path is also suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs along the main surfaced sections.
