Église Sainte-Foy

The second of Pujols' two churches sits on the small square at the far end of the main street. Sainte-Foy is the older of the pair — a 16th-century rebuild of an earlier chapel — and although the exterior is unfussy, the interior is where the village hides one of its real surprises: a series of late-medieval frescoes, restored in patches, showing scenes from the life of Saint Catherine and a faded but legible Last Judgement on the chancel arch.

There is no admission fee and the church is normally unlocked during daylight hours. A small printed sheet at the door lists the frescoes scene by scene; it is worth taking five minutes to follow it round before stepping back out into the square.
