The Lot loops around the south side of Sainte-Livrade and provides the town with its best walks. A footpath runs along the right bank, past willows and small fishing platforms, with views back across the water to the church tower and the red-tiled roofs of the old town. In summer the grassy banks fill with families picnicking and swimming where the current is gentle.
The road bridge across the river is the obvious starting point. From here you can walk west along the bank or hire a canoe in season — the upper Lot is one of the prettier rivers for a slow paddle, with a string of bastide towns and limestone cliffs further upstream.
