The Chapelle Notre-Dame du Bout-du-Pont — "Our Lady at the End of the Bridge" — sits exactly where the name says, at the eastern foot of the Pont-Vieux. It was built in the 17th century to replace an earlier chapel that had stood there since the bridge itself was constructed, and although small, it has been a place of local pilgrimage for centuries.
The interior is intimate and dim, with a painted altarpiece dedicated to the Virgin and a few votive plaques left by sailors and bargemen who passed safely along the Lot. The chapel is normally open during daylight hours and asks nothing of you; ten minutes inside is enough.
