The Musée de l'Hospice Saint-Roch is Issoudun's strongest sight: a former Hôtel-Dieu founded in the 12th century and rebuilt around its chapel and hospital rooms. The chapel's late-medieval Trees of Jesse are the showpiece, carved and painted on a scale you rarely see outside major church museums.
The rest of the museum ranges widely, with archaeology, 17th-century apothecary fittings, African and Oceanic pieces, and contemporary art in the modern wing. It sounds mismatched on paper, but the old hospital setting holds it together.
