Jardin Botanique de Sedan

Sedan's botanical garden is a peaceful escape from the castle's heavy history — an elegant green space laid out in 1875 on the site of a demolished Bourbon bastion. The garden is free to enter and open daily, making it an obvious stop for a picnic or a quiet hour between sights.

The collection includes mature beeches, maples, and chestnuts, a rose garden with more than fifty varieties, banks of hydrangeas, and a small pool with swans and ducks. A bandstand still stands from the original 19th-century layout. The garden retains its Victorian park character: formal beds, generous lawns, and the kind of civic horticultural ambition that French towns did particularly well in the Third Republic.
