Castellu d'Araghju

Castellu d'Araghju is a Bronze Age hill fort above the countryside north of Porto-Vecchio. The stone walls are rough, massive, and far older than the Genoese town below, a reminder that southern Corsica's history reaches well beyond its ports and beach villages.

The walk up is short but exposed, and the reward is as much the view as the archaeology: gulf, scrub, granite, and the inland hills opening around you.
