Canal de la Robine

Tree-lined canal cutting through the old town centre

The Canal de la Robine connects to the Canal du Midi and runs directly through the centre of Narbonne, dividing the old town. The quays are lined with plane trees and form the main promenade — restaurants spill onto the towpath, people walk dogs and read newspapers on the benches, and in summer the water reflects the warm stone of the old buildings. You can follow the canal north out of town on foot or by bicycle, or take a boat trip along the full Canal du Midi.
