Château de Quéribus is a ruined Cathar castle perched high on a rocky ridge, with sweeping views across the Corbières and toward the Pyrenees. Its position is the point: the climb makes clear why this was one of the last Cathar strongholds to fall.
The paths inside are narrow and steep in places, so it is not a good choice for anyone with limited mobility. If you can manage the walk, the reward is one of the most dramatic castle settings in Languedoc.
