Église Saint-Génitour

Saint-Génitour is Le Blanc's principal church, with origins in the 12th century — its Romanesque tower is visible from the surrounding countryside. Subsequent building campaigns in the 13th and 15th centuries added the nave and choir, creating the layered architectural character typical of French parish churches that have been in continuous use for eight centuries.

The interior is cool and dim, with some decent medieval stonework and surviving decorative elements. It is not a major heritage monument on the scale of the Loire châteaux an hour to the north, but it is an honest example of provincial Romanesque-Gothic transition architecture, and the tower makes a landmark from the river.
