Saturday Market

Le Blanc's Saturday market fills the town centre with local producers selling goat cheese — the region is known for its chèvre — fresh vegetables, honey from Brenne lavender, and seasonal fruit. It is a proper market town market, not a tourist attraction: the clientele is overwhelmingly local and the prices reflect that.

For provisioning a picnic to take into the Brenne, this is the place. Walnut bread from the local bakeries, a few rounds of cheese, some rillettes, and whatever is seasonal — you will eat better in the wetlands than you deserve to. The market winds down by midday; arrive by ten to get the best of it.
