Le Poisson d'Avril

Portside seafood restaurant with a terrace overlooking the harbour mouth and impeccable fresh fish.

Le Poisson d'Avril occupies a prime spot on Rue de Men-Meur, right at the harbour entrance near the lighthouse, with a dining terrace that looks straight out over the water. The menu is built around whatever the trawlers brought in that day, and the kitchen lets the quality of the ingredients do the work. Expect beautifully simple preparations: grilled langoustines, pan-fried sole, seafood platters stacked with oysters, whelks, and crab.

The restaurant has been a fixture of the Guilvinec dining scene for years and draws both locals and visitors in roughly equal numbers, which is always a good sign. Prices are fair for the quality, particularly given that you are eating fish that was swimming a few hours earlier. Book ahead in July and August, especially for a terrace table at sunset.
