Musée de Jublains

The museum at Jublains is modest in size but well-presented, housing the most significant finds from excavations of the Roman city of Noviodunum. The collection includes pottery, coins, bronze objects, architectural fragments, and sculptural pieces that establish Jublains as a proper Roman town rather than a minor outpost.

The museum was substantially upgraded in 1995 and the explanatory panels are clear and informative, covering the town's history from its Gallic origins through its Roman peak and decline. This is the right place to start your visit before walking out to the fortress and theatre — the context it provides makes the ruins considerably more legible. Closed on Mondays; check local hours as they vary seasonally.
