The old centre around Rue d'Embas, Rue de la Baudrairie, Place du Château, and Place Notre-Dame is the reason Vitré works as a day trip. Half-timbered houses, granite fronts, covered passages, and tight bends make the town feel much older than its size suggests.
There is no set route to follow. Start below the castle, climb toward Notre-Dame, and allow time for small detours into lanes that still follow the medieval street plan.
