Notre-Dame de Vitré is the old town's main church, rebuilt largely in the 15th and 16th centuries. Its south side is the part to linger over, with Gothic gables, buttresses, and an outdoor pulpit that faces the square.
Inside, the church is quieter than the castle and gives a good pause from the narrow streets. It also helps explain why Vitré feels like a real town rather than a preserved stage set.
