St. Fridolin's Minster anchors the old town with two pale baroque towers that are visible from across the river. The church has deeper medieval roots, but the present impression is bright, Catholic, and theatrical, with the shrine of St. Fridolin tying the building to the town's patron saint.
It is the natural first stop in the centre. Step inside before heading to the bridge; the contrast between the minster's vertical polish and the low timber span over the Rhine is the best short walk in town.
