Danube Cycle Path

The Donauradweg starts here and runs 2,850 km to the Black Sea

The Donauradweg — the Danube Cycle Path — officially begins in Donaueschingen and follows the river all the way to the Black Sea. The first stretch heads east through gentle countryside towards Tuttlingen and Ulm, mostly downhill and on quiet roads or dedicated paths. Even a half-day ride from the source is a satisfying outing.

Most riders setting out on the long-distance route start either here or at Ulm. The town's tourist information office sells the official starting-point certificate, the small ceremonial document you can present at the end of the route. Bike rental is straightforward in town, and the railway station handles bikes for the return leg.
