Kilian's Church is Heilbronn's key historic building. The church has medieval roots, but its octagonal west tower, completed in 1529, is especially important as an early Renaissance work north of the Alps. Look closely at the carved figures outside: they are not all pious.
Inside, the late Gothic altar by Hans Seyfer is the treasure. The church was badly damaged in the Second World War, but the most valuable fittings had been moved to safety, which is why the interior still has real substance rather than only postwar reconstruction.
