Wessenberg Gallery

Municipal art gallery near Konstanz Cathedral focused on southwestern German painting.

The Wessenberg Gallery is Konstanz's municipal art collection, tucked close to the cathedral and old town rather than out on the museum fringe. Its focus is regional: nineteenth- and twentieth-century painting, drawings, and changing exhibitions that give a quieter art-historical counterpoint to the city's lakefront sights.

It is a good stop if you are already visiting the cathedral, Rosgartenmuseum, or Niederburg lanes and want something more reflective than another harbour view. The gallery is compact enough to visit without committing half a day, but serious enough not to feel like a filler museum.
