Veitsburg stands on the hill above Ravensburg, marking the site of the medieval castle that helped give the town its name. The surviving complex is partly rebuilt and partly ruin, but the position still explains its importance: from here the town, towers, and surrounding Upper Swabian landscape spread out below.
The walk up is short and steep enough to feel like a small excursion. It is most rewarding on a clear day, when the viewpoint makes Ravensburg's compact medieval core easier to read than it is from street level.
