Kapellenkirche

The Kapellenkirche, with its slender 70-metre tower rising above the rooftops east of Hauptstrasse, is the strangest church in town. The tower dates from the late fourteenth century and is decorated with figural sculpture that is unusually rich for a small Swabian church: prophets, apostles, and the founders of the original chapel all stand in niches up the corners.

The nave was rebuilt several times after fires; the present interior is a mid-eighteenth-century baroque space with bright pastel frescoes by Joseph Firtmair. The church is best photographed from the Kapellenhof below.
