Landshut's Hofgarten is the old court garden above the town, first used as a ducal animal park after the city was founded in 1204. It later became a working garden for fruit trees, silkworm breeding, and university agricultural experiments before opening to the public in 1837.
Today it is a quiet green counterpoint to Trausnitz Castle and the old town below. Come for a walk, the shade, and the sense of how the hill above Landshut shifted from courtly grounds to a public garden.
