A narrow mountain gorge cut by the Leutascher Ache where it crosses the Austrian border just south of Mittenwald. The trail is built from steel walkways anchored to the cliff face, carrying you out over the rushing water and along the walls for several hundred metres. Spray, mossy rocks, and the constant roar of the water make it one of the most theatrical short walks in the Karwendel.
The gorge is themed lightly around a folkloric "ghost spirit," with playful interpretive boards aimed at children — perhaps unnecessary but not intrusive. Wear sturdy shoes; the boards can be slippery. A modest entrance fee applies, payable at the trailhead. Closed in winter.
