Bad Mergentheim Wildlife Park

The Wildpark on the southern edge of town is one of the better wildlife parks in southwestern Germany. The enclosures are generous by European standards, and the park keeps an impressive range of Central European species that most visitors never encounter in the wild: wolves, lynx, brown bears, wild boar, red deer, and various birds of prey. It is primarily oriented toward native species rather than exotica, which gives it a more coherent feel than a typical zoo.

The setting in a wooded valley is pleasant, and the park makes a good half-day excursion, particularly for anyone travelling with children. It's about 2.5 kilometres from the town centre — walkable in good weather or easily reached by car.
