The Former KGB Prison Potsdam is one of the city's starkest Cold War sites. Used by Soviet military counterintelligence, the prison held detainees in conditions that make Potsdam's 20th-century history feel much less picturesque than its palaces suggest.
The museum is sober and unsettling, as it should be. It pairs well with Cecilienhof and other Cold War-related stops, showing how the postwar settlement was lived not only in conference rooms but also in cells and interrogation spaces.
