Celle Palace

Celle Palace is the town's headline sight, a moated ducal residence whose fabric runs from medieval castle to Renaissance and Baroque court. It was home to the dukes of Brunswick-Luneburg and later tied into the Hanoverian line that reached the British throne.

The guided route through the palace is worth taking for the chapel, ducal rooms, palace kitchen, and Baroque theatre, one of the oldest surviving theatre spaces of its kind in Germany. Even from outside, the palace sets the tone for Celle: formal, handsome, and just grand enough for the town around it.
