Hoppener Haus is the most theatrical of Celle's half-timbered houses, built in 1532 and covered with carved figures and decorative detail. It is the kind of building that explains why the old town works so well: the streets are not just old, they are visually rich at walking speed.
Look for it at the corner of Poststrasse and Rundestrasse, then keep wandering. Celle has many timber-framed houses, but this is the one most visitors remember.
