Semaphor

1884 signal structure near Alte Liebe that still shows wind data for passing ships.

The Semaphor near Alte Liebe is a small but pleasing piece of maritime engineering. Built in 1884, it was used to communicate wind speed and direction to ships moving through the Elbe mouth.

It is still set daily, which makes it more than a static relic. Stop for a look while you are already at the harbour platform.
