St Martin stands by the market square and gives Nienburg's old centre its main vertical marker. The church is the obvious place to begin a walk through the town, because the surrounding streets still keep the scale of a Weser market town.
Don't expect the drama of a cathedral city. The pleasure here is quieter: brick, timber, a working town square, and a church that anchors the centre without overwhelming it.
