St. Lorenz Church stands west of the centre, in the older religious quarter of Schöningen. The present church is medieval, but the site carries the memory of the Benedictine abbey founded here in the Ottonian period.
It is a quiet stop rather than a grand church. Pair it with a walk through the town centre and the castle to get a sense of Schöningen before and after the Paläon.
