Sárvár Thermal Bath

The thermal bath complex is the main reason most Hungarians visit Sárvár. The mineral-rich water, which reaches the surface at around 80°C and is cooled before use, has been channelled here since the 1960s and now supplies an extensive complex of indoor and outdoor pools, wellness facilities and treatment baths. The water has a high sodium bicarbonate content and is used for locomotor ailments, though most visitors simply come to relax.

The complex is well-maintained, the outdoor pools are open year-round, and the facilities are a step above the average Hungarian thermal bath — there are wave pools and water slides alongside the traditional medicinal pools. The surrounding park is pleasant and the whole operation feels less institutional than many spa towns. A combined ticket covering the thermal pools and wellness area is good value by western European standards.
