Mary Magdalene Church is the main old-town landmark, built in the middle of the 18th century and still giving the centre its vertical point. The Trinity column in front adds the small Central European square that Zalaegerszeg otherwise only hints at.
It is not a church to cross a country for, but it helps the town make sense. Pair it with the nearby former synagogue, county hall, and Kossuth Lajos utca for the best short walk in the centre.
