Café Riis occupies the oldest surviving house in Holmavik, a timber building on Hafnarbraut that has been converted into the village's main restaurant. Old photographs on the walls trace the history of the settlement and its fishing community. The menu covers traditional Icelandic staples — lamb soup, fish of the day — alongside pizzas, burgers, and sandwiches for those who want something more familiar.
For a village of this size and remoteness, the food is honest and filling. It is the only full restaurant in Holmavik; in winter hours may be limited and it is worth calling ahead. Hafnarbraut 39; tel: +354 451 3567.
