The Folk Music Center occupies the former home of Rev. Bjarni Þorsteinsson, whose collection of Icelandic folk songs helped preserve a fragile oral tradition. The displays use recordings, instruments, and dance material to make Icelandic folk music less abstract.
It is small, but it fits Siglufjörður well: a quiet cultural stop in a town better known for fish, snow, and mountains.
