Powerscourt House and Gardens is one of the great Wicklow estate visits, close enough to Bray to work as a straightforward day trip. The gardens are the main draw: Italianate terraces, ornamental lakes, walled gardens, Japanese planting, sweeping lawns, and views toward the Sugarloaf and Wicklow Mountains.
The house now functions more as an estate hub than a traditional stately-home tour, with shops and cafes, but the grounds carry the visit. Add Powerscourt Waterfall if you have a car and time. Without one, check bus and taxi options carefully, because the estate feels near on a map but awkward if you are relying on casual public transport.
