The Shannon Blueway is the active way to use Carrick-on-Shannon rather than just look at it. Around town it connects quays, riverside paths, paddling routes, and onward links toward Leitrim, Drumshanbo, and Rooskey.
You do not need to commit to a long journey. Even a short paddle or riverside cycle gives the town a clearer purpose than a quick walk down Main Street.
