This small museum east of Clifden is useful context before or after a day in the bog and mountains. The displays focus on traditional Connemara farming, famine history, emigration and the hard local life behind the scenery.
It is not slick, and that helps. The reconstructed homestead and family material give the landscape a human scale that a scenic drive alone will not.
